Spencer took us over to Hawkins Island for my first attempt at deer hunting last week. I asked him if he would shoot a buck this time of year - some people think they get too gamey. "I'll shoot anything, even if its got spots on it" he told me. "Actually there aren't any with spots this time of year, but the little ones are the best - they're easy to carry. You can tie their feet together and wear 'em over your shoulder like a purse." Spencer is from Vermont, he does what he wants.
This woman is someone I want to be like when I grow up. She takes care of herself, but is there for you when you need her - yet isn't too proud to ask for help. She cooks amazing food that she has provided for herself, berries she picked, deer she shot, and salmon she caught. She encourages you - and encourages you to stand on your own two feet. She knows what she wants and doesn't give a damn what other people think. She is a solid friend.
